3Dquot makes it possible to take measures into the 3D scene.
The measures are created in 2D, over the 3D scene, for display speed reasons.
As soon as the measure is taken, a 3D object is inserted into the scene to allow seeing the measure at any point of view.
The quotation module is activated by clicking on the button
of the toolbar...
An additional toolbar is displayed. If the scene had hidden quotes, they are then shown.
By clicking again on the button, the additional toolbar is hidden as well as all the quotes, if any.

Trash
Delete all the quotes in the scene. |
The quotes are created in the scene in a procedural way, in 2D. This way the display speed is not altered during the quote creation; this is particularly appreciable with very heavy 3D models.
During a quote creation, the user cannot alter the scene.
As soon as a quote is created, the user can click on it: this forces the quote to be displayed over all the scene objects, even if it is partially hidden.
To create a bounding box around an object, the user simply clicks on the object.
The user could also select an area with a click any where in the scene and a drag without releasing the mouse button; a bounding box is created over objects that are into the selection area.
The user can also click on the scene objects with the SHIFT key pressed. The objects that are into the bounding box are removed and the objects that are not in the bounding box are inserted.
After having clicked on a quote creation button in the additional toolbar, the user is invited to select the first vertex in the scene. The mouse cursor becomes then a cross.
The user can abort the creation process at anytime in several ways: unselect the additional toolbar button ha has previously clicked on, unselect the quotation module button or click with the right mouse button anywhere in the scene.
Depending to the created quote, the user should select a maximum of three vertices in the scene.
During the whole creation process, the quote is displayed in 2D, over the 3D scene.
